NCVO's Counting the Cuts Report: Revealing the scale of voluntary sector funding cuts

NCVO have today published an update to their 2011 Counting the Cuts report, which examines the scale of funding cuts to the voluntary sector so far, as well as those to come.

The Report uses Office for Budget Responsibility forecasts of public spending, along with NCVO Civil Society Almanac data on charities' income sources, to estimate the impact of reductions in public spending on charities.

The Department of Health have now issued statutory guidance on Joint Strategic Needs Assessments (JSNAs).

The Statutory Guidance has been issued following consultation on draft guidance, which Compact Voice responded to.

Technical guide to Public Sector Equality Duty published

The Equality and Human Rights Commission have published a technical guidance to accompany to Equality Act codes of practice. There is a section on the Public Sector Equality Duty, which may be useful for our members. The guidance provides 'an authoritative, comprehensive and technical guide to the detail of the law'.

Cabinet Office publish guidance on Social Value Act

The Social Value Act comes into force on January 31, and the Cabinet Office have released an information note for commissioners and procurers.

The note provides information about what authorities are required to do under the Act – including that statutory bodies must be mindful of the principles contained in their local or national Compact when contracting services.

Report into independence of voluntary sector echoes Compact Voice’s findings

The Panel on the Independence of the Voluntary Sector – established in 2011 to ensure that independence is seen as a priority for voluntary sector organisations – have today published their second annual report.

Compact Voice welcome the panel’s use of our research into Compact implementation, which draws heavily on our engagement with the voluntary and community sector.
